Plain-English guides

Resources

How commercial floors are specified, what they cost, why they fail and how to compare two quotes that look nothing alike.

Why these five

Commercial flooring is an unusually easy trade to get wrong as a buyer, because the things that determine whether a floor lasts are mostly invisible once it is finished. Two quotes can describe the same product, arrive at prices that differ by half, and produce floors with completely different lifespans. Nothing on the surface tells you which is which.

These guides cover the five decisions where that gap actually opens up. Which system suits the room, what legitimately drives the price, why moisture testing comes before anything else, how the work gets sequenced around an operation that cannot stop, and what the common failure modes look like so you can recognise which one you are dealing with.

None of them are sales documents. If reading them leads you to conclude that your slab needs mitigation you were not planning to pay for, or that the cheapest quote in front of you is cheap for a reason, they have done their job.

If you only read one

Start with moisture testing. It is the failure nobody anticipates, it shows up months after everyone has moved on, and it is the one problem that no amount of product quality or installation skill can compensate for. It is also inexpensive to rule out.

Need a floor that lasts?

Tell us what the room does and what gets spilled on it. We will walk the space, test the slab and put a real number on it.
